Barboza signs with MTK Global and Mirigian

Fighting

Another fighter has linked up with MTK Global and Rick Mirigian, as 140-pound contender Arnold Barboza Jr is the latest in a long line of fighters to sign with the team.

MTK Global will advise Barboza and Mirigian will be his manager. Barboza is still promoted by Top Rank. He follows Joseph Diaz Jr, Vergil Ortiz Jr, Hector Tanajara Jr (we swear they’re not all Juniors), Lindolfo Delgado (see?), and Misael Rodriguez as recent signings with the MTK/Mirigian duo. MTK also signed Jamel Herring to an advisory deal in September, to note another, though he is not with Mirigian.

Barboza (25-0, 10 KO) is 29 and looking to make a move toward a title fight at 140. He’s got a good team around him for that, considering the four belts are split between Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez, both of whom are with Top Rank and also have deals with MTK. Mirigian also manages Ramirez, and in fact his terrific handling of Ramirez’s career is what helped him become such an in-demand manager.

“It means a lot to me to sign with Rick Mirigian as my manager as he has proven what he can do for guys, along with MTK Global as my advisor,” Barboza said. “I now feel like the power team is complete and I’m in the best position I could be in to challenge for a world title soon. I am looking forward to a big 2021.”
