On December 12, 2020, Ronald Ellis improved to 18-1-2 (12 KOs) following his technical knockout victory over Matt Korobov in their scheduled 10-round middleweight bout, live on SHOWTIME from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Korobov was forced to retire due to an ankle injury.
