Good news: Adrien Broner’s return to the ring won’t conflict with Joe Smith Jr. vs. Maxim Vlasov and Joseph Diaz Jr. vs. Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov on February 13th. Bad news: Dan Rafael reports it will now conflict with Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul and Miguel Berchelt vs. Oscar Valdez on February 20th.
Broner (33-4-1, 24 KO) does not yet have an opponent; original foe Pedro Campa withdrew after a team member tested positive for COVID and negotiations with unbeaten prospect Michel Rivera reportedly broke down.
The other two fights appear set; one pits Otto Wallin against Dominic Breazeale. The other, revealed yesterday, sees Robert Easter Jr. (22-1-1, 14 KO) face Ryan Martin (24-1, 14 KO) at 140 pounds. Neither man has what you’d call momentum; Easter is 1-1-1 in his last three, losing wide to Mikey Garcia, fighting Rances Barthelemy to a putrid draw, and taking a questionable decision over Adrian Granados. Martin got battered by Josh Taylor in the WBSS, subsequently failed a drug test, and beat up two awful opponents last year.
I don’t think this will be pulling any eyes away from “Money.”
