Cuban heavyweight sensation, Frank Sanchez, who has steadily been climbing up the WBO world rankings since turning professional in 2017, calls out Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk to clash this year.

“Joshua and Usyk, that’s really who I want to fight.” The Cuban revealed in an exclusive interview with proboxing-fans.com.

Anthony Joshua is the unified WBA Super, WBO, IBF and IBO champion with an undisputed battle with Tyson Fury on the cards an interim title will be fought for seemingly between Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce.

Sanchez firmly believes he is capable of mixing it with these guys after just 17 professional bouts.

“I feel like I’m within that group of fighters. I’m at an elite level. I think I can do well with any of them.”

Sanchez recently appointed Eddy Reynoso as his head coach joining the thriving stable containing Canelo Alvarez and Ryan Garcia.

Frank was even given the role of sparring partner for Canelo ahead of his super middleweight bout against Callum Smith in December 2020 where Sanchez fought on the undercard himself defeating Julian Fernandez with a stoppage coming in the seventh round.

“Working with Canelo and Eddy [Reynoso] has been tremendous, I have been learning enormous amounts from them,”

“Sparring Canelo, he has such incredible movement and defence it’s helping me with my mobility, moving around and I’m still learning. Canelo has been a tremendous help for my career.”

The 28-year-old who has his sights set on Anthony Joshua, did concede he is of the belief that ‘AJ’ will suffer defeat at the hands of ‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury should the pair meet as they are heavily rumoured to do so.

“They’re both tremendous fighters. But, having said that I see Fury as a little bigger, he has better movement, I give him a light advantage. If I had to pick I would pick Fury but they’re both very durable. It’s a great fight.”
