Tim Tszyu: I Have To Destroy Whoever is in My Way – Right Now That’s Hogan

Boxing Scene

Undefeated junior middleweight contender Tim Tszyu will be looking to do a demolition job when he faces veteran Dennis Hogan on March 31.

In 2019, there were many observers who felt Hogan had done enough to pull out an upset win over then WBO junior middleweight champion Jamie Munguia, who was very disappointed with his performance.

The scores were 114-114, 115-113, and 116-112, which gave Munguia a majority decision win. The tough Mexican has since moved up to 160-pounds.

Hogan has been out of the ring since moving up the middleweight division in December 2019, when he was broken down and knocked out by the much bigger Jermall Charlo.

Tszyu (17-0), who beat down and stopped former WBO world champion Jeff Horn, has become a superstar in Australia, with new fighters calling him out on a regular basis.

The 26-year-old was in action back in December, when he knocked out Bowyn Morgan in one round.

He’s now very close to securing a crack at the WBO world title, which is currently owned by Patrick Teixeira. Next month, Teixeira will make a mandatory defense against undefeated challenger Brian Castano.

Tszyu wants to secure a world title fight before the end of the year. He’s looking to bank another impressive victory when he faces Hogan.

“I don’t see it like others do, for me this is not a big gamble,” Tszyu told The Daily Telegraph.

“When I go to fight for that world title, I’m going there to win it, not to be a participant and just compete, so this fight against Dennis Hogan is the perfect preparation.

“Every fight for me is a big step up, every fight is a must-win fight. If I am to be a world champion, I’ve got to destroy whoever is in my way, and right now that is Hogan.”
