Euro News: Rose-Lopez, Tetteh, Patel, Tatli, Pfeifer vs. Webb, More

Boxing Scene

Former British champion Brian Rose (31-6-1) fights tomorrow (March 20) in Badia del Valle, Spain ,and squares off against Juan Manuel Lopez Clavero (13-14-1) in the headliner of this Gallego Prada and Team Sole promotion. This is Rose’s first fight since losing to Anthony Fowler in August of 2019.

A crowd of 200 will be allowed and it’s streamed by Fite TV on PPV for a price of ten Euro.

Ghanian heavyweight Ebenezer Tetteh (19-1) has his first fight since losing Daniel Dubois in London 17 months ago, on March 27 in Accra and squares off against Haruna Osmanu (11-1) with the WBA Pan African title at stake.

British world traveler Prince Patel (23-1-2) takes on Tanzanian Julius Kisarawe (32-7-1) at super flyweight with a number of titles at stake. The show is staged by Soaq Empire Boxing Promotions.

The EBU has – a bit late one can think – discovered that Italy-based Tunisian lightweight Mohamed Khalladi (15-8-1) is not a citizen of any countries that are members of the EBU. He was thus removed as official challenger for the vacant EBU title where he was waiting for a date to take on Italian Gianluca Ceglia (16-3-1). Finn Edis Tatli (32-3) is now reinstated as OC and the EBU have set March 31 as deadline for purse bids. Tatli-Ceglia was almost on several times during 2020 but postponed due to Covid-19 and eventually a shoulder injury forced Tatli to pull out. The EBU then nominated Khalladi as OC.

….

German heavyweight Erik Pfeifer (7-0) was all set to take on Daniel Dubois in August of 2019 when Queensberry Promotions, suddenly during fight week, switched from Pfeifer to Dutchman Ricardo Snijders (18-1). The official reason was an issue with the paperwork but in reality Queensberry probably discovered what a good amateur the 34-year old Pfeifer was.

Erik represented Germany in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and won a bronze medal in two World championships.

He didn’t turn pro until 2018 and won the vacant WBO Euro title in his last fight, in November of 2019. The EC Boxing promoted Pfeifer is now to take on Nick Webb (16-2) on March 27 in Gibraltar on the undercard to Alexander Povetkin vs Dillian Whyte.
