NBCSN and Twitch, 9:00 pm ET, Amanda Serrano vs Daniela Bermudez. If nothing happens to this main event, it’s a really good one. Serrano and Bermudez are both top 10 fighters pound-for-pound, fighting for a pair of featherweight titles. Serrano has won world titles in 37 divisions or whatever, while Bermudez has won a belts at 115, 118, and 122. They both can fight and Serrano may be the best puncher in the women’s game. Good fight! BT Sport (UK), 4:00 pm ET, Akeem Ennis-Brown vs Sam Maxwell. Queensberry are running back-to-back days (nights there) on BT Sport. Neither show is set for an ESPN+ stream at the moment. That could change, but it probably won’t, and neither is up on FITE or anything either. So there’s no legal U.S. way to watch. Ennis-Brown defends the British and Commonwealth titles at 140 against Maxwell, both of them unbeaten. Good domestic-level fighters in a good domestic matchup.
DAZN, 3:00 pm ET, Alexander Povetkin vs Dillian Whyte 2. Been delayed a bunch, and now it’s coming. Povetkin, of course, shocked Whyte with a monster knockout last August at Matchroom Fight Camp, in a fight that Whyte had been winning pretty handily. Whyte is jumping right back to it — first set for November, then January, then March 6, now on Saturday in Gibraltar. It’s not “make or break” because most things in boxing aren’t, but it’s hugely important for both. If Povetkin wants one more shot at a world title, he has to win here. If Whyte wants one any time soon, he has to win here. Ted Cheeseman faces JJ Metcalf for the vacant British title at 154 on the undercard, which is a really good matchup, and Chris Kongo takes on Michael McKinson at 147 among other fights, including the pro debut of Ricky Hatton’s son Campbell. BT Sport (UK), 4:00 pm ET, Willy Hutchinson vs Lennox Clarke. There was also supposed to be a Chris Jenkins-Ekow Essuman fight on this card but that appears to have fallen off. Nathan Gorman will be on the undercard against Pavel Sour as the heavyweight looks to continue his rebuild. Hutchinson-Clarke is for the vacant British and Commonwealth belts at 168, another good domestic-level matchup. Hutchinson might have some world potential at age 22, but Clarke is a tough out at this level, so it’s a test to pass.
