Fresh off Lawrence Okolie’s stoppage win over Krzysztof Glowacki this past weekend his Matchroom promoter, Eddie Hearn, tells Sky Sports how impressed he was with Okolie’s performance while referencing his jab, footwork, and power shots.
“That was a good enough performance to beat any cruiserweight in the division, and that’s what we want to do now. We don’t want to muck around, we want to go straight for all the titles and unify the division and then move up to heavyweight.”
As we know, Okolie specifically said he was looking towards a fight against fellow cruiserweight titleholder Mairis Briedis, which Hearn is obviously on board with. Luckily it seems that Briedis’ promoter Kalle Sauerland is also on board to make the fight, telling Hearn and Okolie ‘let’s get it on’ in a tweet after the fight.
Briedis should present a stiffer challenge for Okolie, but even Okolie admits that to be the best he’ll have to beat the best and isn’t shying away from the challenge. Briedis has been out of action since last September, taking a majority decision over Yunier Dorticos.
