Boxing Scene

This Friday at the Lienzo Charro De Chapala in Jalisco, the former world super middleweight champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Jose “Bolivita” Uzcategui will look to bounce back from his last career defeat, when he faces Josue “Chiquilin” Obando, which will be the main event of the evening organized by BxStrs Promotions, with the support of the municipal government and the state government, and which will be seen throughout Latin America on ESPN Knockout.

Uzcategui, a Venezuelan fighter living in the border city of Tijuana, is looking for an explosive outcome when he faces Obando in the ring.

Possessing a tremendous punch, something that is evident with the 24 knockouts obtained in 29 wins, Uzcategui wants to get himself in position for a world title shot.

Back in December of 2019, Uzcategui was shocked when he suffered his fourth career defeat by way of a ten round unanimous decision at the hands of Lionell Thompson.

The event will have all of the health protocols established by the Board of Health, which will be the one that determines the capacity allowed in the venue, which has a capacity of 1,200 spectators, will feature the presentation of Mexican contender Edwin “Pupo” Palomares (16-4-1, 5 KOs), who closed 2020 successfully after defeating Martín Parlagi on December 29 in Prague, Czech Republic, and obtaining the super bantamweight title of the RBO (Royal Boxing Organization), and now he will face Nayarit César “Perico” Ramírez, in a ten-round super bantamweight duel.

The undercard will be complemented with fights made up of young figures from Jalisco, such as Christian “Chispa” Medina, considered one of the promising fighters of Jalisco boxing, something that will be made clear when measuring Miguel Angel Rodriguez, in a fight agreed for eight rounds at bantamweight.
