Herring-Frampton, more: Boxing TV schedule for March 31-April 3

Fighting

PPV (AUS), 4:00 am ET, Tim Tszyu vs Dennis Hogan. A lot of us were hoping ESPN+ or DAZN might grab this one, but so far nothing. I was even hoping maybe it’d have FITE PPV access here, but nothing. If there comes a way to watch it, I’ll be here. If not, I won’t. It’s not that it’s so great a fight, really, Hogan is what he is, but Tszyu is a rising possible star and Hogan could present some stylistic challenges, it’s a solid matchup. BLH may have live coverage.

UFC Fight Pass, 10:00 pm ET, Antonio Paulo Soares vs Alan Solis, Mauricio Pintor vs Kendo Castaneda. An RJJ Boxing card from Los Mochis. Pretty standard stuff on paper. Castaneda, who came up on these RJJ Fight Pass shows, is trying to end a three-fight losing streak that came from stepping outside of the Fight Pass bubble, though he gave some good efforts against good fighters.

DAZN, 10:00 am ET, Murodjon Akhmadaliev vs Ryosuke Iwasa. With this card being held in Uzbekistan, there will be plenty of time to see both of Saturday’s overseas main events even if the late part of this show overlaps with the early part of the Herring-Frampton card. Chances are you’ll see everything relevant. Chances are decent you can see everything in its entirety. Akhmadaliev is defending the WBA and IBF titles at 122 lbs against Iwasa, a longtime contender and former titleholder. It’s a good fight. A lot of the Uzbek names are in action here or are scheduled to be as of now: Shakhram GIyasov, Hasanboy Dusmatov, Israil Madrimov, Bakhodir Jalolov, etc. BLH will have live coverage.

ESPN+, 2:00 pm ET, Jamel Herring vs Carl Frampton. Hey man, knock on wood, but FINALLY this is happening. Herring defends his WBO 130 lb title against Frampton in a much-delayed fight that has been well over a year in the making now. It’s a good matchup; Herring has obvious physical advantages and Frampton is probably pushing it fighting small at 130, but Carl’s a terrific fighter at his best. The question is if he’s at his best anymore. The undercard features Donnie Nietes’ return in his first fight since 2018, plus Zhankosh Turarov vs Tyrone McKenna and more from Dubai. BLH will have live coverage.
