Remember how PBC waited to announce their December 16th Eimantas Stanionis-Janer Gonzalez card until two days before fight night? Seems like they’re at it again. Dan Rafael reports that the promotion will stage an FS1 card headlined by Frank Martin vs. Jerry Perez on April 20th.
Martin (12-0, 9 KO) vs. Perez (13-0, 10 KO) is a fairly standard clash between unbeaten up-and-comers in need of a step up. The card’s name value comes from its reported co-feature, a criminal mismatch between serial domestic abuser Marcus Browne (23-1, 16 KO) and a badly degraded Denis Grachev 20-12-1, 11 KO). Grachev, a former kickboxer, knocked out unbeaten Ismayl Sillakh in 2012 to earn himself nine years of getting whooped by mid-level guys in search of “names” to beat. He’s 1-5 in his last six, while Browne, who hasn’t seen action since a wacky technical decision loss to Jean Pascal in August 2019, was in line for an interim WBC title fight with “Zurdo” Ramirez before the latter withdrew.
I mean, at least it’s airing on a non-premium network on a Tuesday.
