Jake Paul: I see myself as an elite fighter right now

Fighting

As Jake Paul continues to set the boxing world on fire with his mastery of the craft, Paul said during yesterday’s final press conference that he already considers himself an elite fighter, even with only two professional boxing matches under his belt — both coming against individuals were themselves weren’t even fighters at all.

“I see myself as an elite fighter right now,” Paul said. “A young prospect with a lot of motivation, a lot of hunger, and I think people see me as a shitty amateur. So there’s a big difference and there’s a big gap in between where I’m actually at and what the general audience thinks. But I’m excited again to show my ability on Saturday against Ben, who is a world class fighter.

“I’m ready to go into deep waters. He’s used to fighting guys that’s the same height…People always say when they meet me ‘damn, you’re big, you’re bigger than I thought’ — all the time. And so that’ll play a huge factor and he won’t be able to get close to me, he won’t be able to do all the things he’s planning on doing. He’s talking about coming in with defense and pressure — that pressure and him coming forward is gonna get him knocked out.”

Paul and Askren are set to duke it out this Saturday night on Triller. Check in with us today at 6 p.m. ET for the live streaming weigh-in.
