Lopez-Kambosos Triller PPV now targeted for June 19th

Fighting

Faced with the prospect of sharing a weekend with Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul, Triller’s June 5th Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. PPV is reportedly on the move. According to Chris Mannix, “organizers are targeting June 19th as a rescheduled date, in Miami.”

While this does solve the Mayweather problem, it further bloats an already overloaded night of boxing. There’s Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel on Showtime, Naoya Inoue vs. Michael Dasmarinas on ESPN, Jaime Munguia vs. Maciej Sulecki on DAZN, and the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Anderson Silva freakshow on PPV. Though none of those are exactly AAA matchups, it’s undoubtedly going to split the audience.

As others have pointed out, however, Triller may need the delay to actually put the card together. We’re a month out from fight night and all they’ve got in terms of supporting cast is Evander Holyfield vs. Kevin McBride. No music, no celebrity cameos, nothing; Lopez is a hell of a fighter, but he’s not carrying a pricey PPV by himself when both casual viewers and boxing diehards have a plethora of alternatives.
