Gadwin Rosa and George Acosta are set to meet in the spring season premiere of Boxeo Telemundo.

Both boxers made weight for their scheduled 10-round regional junior lightweight title fight, which airs live on Telemundo in front of a sellout crowd at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida. Puerto Rico’s Rosa weighed right at the 130-pound divisional limit, while Acosta—a Mexican-American prospect from Whittier, California—weighed 129 pounds.

The bout marks a 19-day turnaround for the 24-year-old Acosta (11-1, 1KO), who is coming off of a six-round shutout win on April 18 in Corona, California. Friday’s event marks his first outside of his home state of California.

Rosa (11-1, 9KOs) is on the opposite end of the activity scale. The five-year pro from Ocala, Florida by way of Vieques, Puerto Rico fights for the first time in the pandemic, having been out since a 2nd round knockout in a tune-up fight in Oct. 2019. The bout came six months after his lone career defeat, an eight-round unanimous decision to Sulaiman Segawa in April 2019.

Acosta has won his last four starts.

Also on the show, promising junior middleweight prospect Elvin Gambarov (14-0, 13KOS) makes his U.S. televised debut. The 29-year-old Azerbaijani—who is now based out of Miami—weighed 154 pounds for a scheduled 10-round regional title fight versus Mexico City’s Diego Cruz (21-9-2, 17KOs), who weighed 153 pounds for just his second career fight in the U.S.

In undercard action, Pedro Salome (2-0-1, 1KO) and Hector Bayanilla (2-0-1, 1KO) each weighed 123 pounds for their scheduled four round contest.

Locally based Boricua prospect Jean Guerra Vargas (3-0, 0KOs) and Mexico City’s Gilberto Aguilar (0-1, 0KOs) each weighed 135 pounds for their scheduled four-round lightweight clash in the first fight of the evening.
