Sulecki again withdraws from fight with Munguia

Fighting

Some fights just aren’t meant to be, I suppose.

After withdrawing from a planned April 24th clash with Jaime Munguia due to injury, which ultimately moved the bout to June 19th after late replacement D’Mitrius Ballard also withdrew, former middleweight title challenger Maciej Sulecki is reportedly once again out of the fight.

No reason was given for his exit, though ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez claims they’re “investigating.”

Sulecki (29-2, 11 KO) spent 14 months on the sidelines after a one-sided loss to Demetrius Andrade, ultimately returning to action last August with a decision over journeyman Sasha Yengoyan. He figured to pose a solid challenge to Munguia (36-0, 29 KO), who’s still finding his footing as a middleweight after a gritty battle with Tureano Johnson.

On the bright side, Golden Boy and DAZN managed to quickly scrounge up a solid replacement opponent on short notice the last time this happened, so maybe they can do the same again.
