Danny Garcia: Pacquiao-Spence is 50-50 Fight, Won’t Go The Distance

Boxing Scene

Former two division champion Danny Garcia is not expecting the upcoming clash between Errol Spence and Pacquiao to go the full distance.

Pacquiao, 42-years-old, has been out of the ring since July of 2019 – when he won a twelve round split decision over unbeaten Keith Thurman to capture the WBA welterweight crown.

On August 21 in Las Vegas, Pacquiao will challenge Spence for the WBC, IBF welterweight straps.

Spence was in action back in December, when he dominated Garcia over twelve rounds for a lopsided twelve round unanimous decision win.

The contest was Spence’s first bout since suffering injuries in a car accident back in 2019.

Should Pacquiao lose, it will likely be the final bout of a long career that saw him win eight divisional titles.

A victory for Spence would give him the biggest name on his record.

Garcia could see the contest going either way, by knockout. He doesn’t expect either boxer to see the twelfth and final round. Spence has never been down as a fighter. Pacquiao has been stopped several times in his career – with the last time being a knockout loss at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez in December of 2012.

“I think it’s a 50-50 fight, to be honest. I can see both of them knocking each other out. And I think this fight is not going to go the distance. I think somebody is getting knocked out. It could be either-or,” Garcia told Fighthype.com.

“If Manny fights the way he fought [Keith] Thurman, I believe he can stop Spence. But if Spence comes with his A-game, I think Spence can stop him with a body shot.”
