Dickens: Momentum is with me against Galahad

Fighting

Jazza Dickens has a big fight coming against Kid Galahad on Aug. 7, headlining a Matchroom Fight Camp show with the vacant IBF featherweight title on the line.

The two have met before, with Galahad beating Dickens via 10th round TKO in 2013, and Dickens, now 30, says he always figured he’d get another fight with Galahad.

“When I lost, I knew it would come to this. I knew I’d get my revenge,” Dickens told Boxing Social. “But I knew we wouldn’t meet again until it was a world title fight. I think after our fight, he took off big time. He was flying.”

He continued, “But he got busted for PEDs, and I think he lost momentum. I lost, as well. I then stepped ahead of him, fought for a world title, and I lost. Then he stepped ahead of me, fought for a world title and lost, and now he’s fighting me for a world title. I think we’ve both been progressing, but I feel like the momentum is with me right now. It comes and it goes, you know what I mean?”

Dickens (30-3, 11 KO) is coming off of a big win in MTK Global’s Golden Contract tournament, beating Carlos Ramos, Leigh Wood, and Ryan Walsh to fight his way into position to face Galahad (27-1, 16 KO). The 31-year-old Galahad lost a controversial decision to Josh Warrington in a title fight in 2019, and came back strong eight months later in Feb. 2020, dominating and stopping Claudio Marrero.
