As the news spreads that the impending third fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder has been postponed due to a COVID outbreak among Fury’s camp, Wilder’s advisor Shelly Finkel is clearly upset to find out that Fury was not fully vaccinated as he was led to believe by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum who said as much last month. WBN’s Dan Rafael cites that a source who indicates that while Fury did receive an initial dose of the Pfizer vaccine, he never returned to receive the second.
“If Tyson Fury and his team did what they should have done and said they had done, this fight would be on and not off,” Finkel exclusively told World Boxing News. “Deontay did what he was supposed to. He got his two Pfizer vaccines, and so did the members of his team. He’s ready to go, and this is because Fury did not do what he was supposed to.”
As of now it’s believed that the third Fury-Wilder fight will not be held until at least October with the fight having already long been delayed to the COVID outbreak and subsequent legal battles between both sides as they argued whether or not their contractual rematch clause was still valid.
And as Fury and Wilder haven’t fought since last meeting in the ring in February 2020, it looks like we could be quickly closing-in on two full years since either man has been in a professional fight.
