Boxing TV schedule for July 15-17

Fighting

YouTube and Facebook, 2:00 pm ET, Charlo-Castano final press conference.

TyC Sports (ARG), 8:00 pm ET, Micaela Lujan vs Daniela Asenjo. The main event is for Lujan’s IBF 115 lb title

YouTube and Facebook, 2:00 pm ET, Charlo-Castano weigh-in. Underpants, scales, the whole nine yards. Bad Left Hook will have live coverage.

FITE, 7:30 pm ET, Ronald Cruz vs Chris Gray. This is a $14.99 PPV, which is just, you know, a way to watch this if you want. It’s not like they’re expecting to sell 200,000 PPVs or anything. The FITE page says Serhii Bohachuk is in the co-feature as he comes off of his first loss. Cruz is an OK fighter but doesn’t really take, like, good fights. He’s 29 and lost his third pro bout in 2015 but has been unbeaten since against very limited competition. Gray is an American journeyman, record of 13-22-1 but tougher than that makes him seem, a lot of debatable decision losses in his career — eight of his losses are either majority decisions or split decisions, which doesn’t always mean everything, but that many is worth noticing. There’s a pattern.

SHO, 9:00 pm ET, Jermell Charlo vs Brian Castano. A great main event here, obviously, for all four world titles at 154 lbs. The show also has Rolando Romero vs Anthony Yigit and Amilcar Vidar vs Immanuwel Aleem, but the draw is obviously Charlo-Castano for the undisputed championship of this entire Earth. Don’t really need to get into it much more than that, it’s a no-brainer to tune in. Bad Left Hook will have live coverage.
