AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas – In a showdown for the IBF, WBC, WBO, WBA junior middleweight titles, Jermell Charlo (34-1-1, 18 KOs) and Brian Castano (17-0-2, 12 KOs) fought for twelve hard rounds, with a lot of drama – and the contest would end in a split draw.
The scores were 114-113 for Castano, 117-111 for Charlo, and 114-114.
Both boxers walked away with their respective world titles.
There is a lot of interest in a rematch from both side, but it won’t be easy to make as several mandatory defenses are looming in the near future – with the IBF’s mandatory obligation way overdue.
