Looks like the celebrity boxing trend isn’t ending anytime soon. TMZ Sports reports that retired former champions Riddick Bowe and Paulie Malignaggi are set to appear on capital-letters Celebrity Boxing’s October 2nd card, which will air on FITE.
The 53-year-old Bowe (43-1, 33 KO) was one of the great fighters of the 90s in his heyday, ultimately leaving the sport in 1996 after consecutive DQ victories over prick-pounding Pole Andrew Golota. He had a brief comeback in the 2000s, but hung up the gloves once again in 2008 without accomplishing much, then got leg kicked into oblivion in a one-and-done Muay Thai stint five years later.
He’ll face 41-year-old former NBA standout Lamar Odom, who was last seen beating up onetime child singing sensation Aaron Carter.
Malignaggi (36-8, 7 KO) fights Corey B, a self-described “radio personality” whom I’ve never heard of. I’d imagine this will be a lot easier and hurt a lot less than another adventure in bare knuckle boxing.
