Castro-Escandon moved to Aug. 21 Pacquiao-Ugas PPV

Fighting

With PBC’s August 28th David Benavidez vs Jose Uzcategui show delayed indefinitely and their August 21st Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas show in need of an extra fight, they’ve decided to make the most of what they’ve got. The promotion announced yesterday that the featherweight clash between Carlos Castro and Oscar Escandon has been bumped from the former to the latter.

This is a far more appealing matchup than it would have been before Escandon’s (26-5, 18 KO) last fight. The Colombian veteran appeared to be at the end of the line after consecutive knockout losses to Gary Russell Jr., Tugstsogt Nyambayar, and Brandon Figueroa, but a shock upset of Jhack Tepora breathed new life into his career.

He’ll still be a major underdog against the fast-rising Castro (26-0, 11 KO), who smashed the historically durable Cesar Juarez last July. That said, it figures to be an entertaining way to open the four-fight PPV, which also includes Mark Magsayo vs. Julio Ceja and Victor Ortiz vs. Robert Guerrero.
