Paul-Woodley, more: Boxing TV schedule for August 28-29

Fighting

BT Sport (UK), 2:00 pm ET, Anthony Cacace vs Lyon Woodstock, Akeem Ennis-Brown vs Sam Maxwell, Anthony Yarde vs Alex Theran, Ijaz Ahmed vs Quaise Khamedi. Three domestic title fights, with Cacace-Woodstock for the British title at 130, Ennis-Brown-Maxwell for the British and Commonwealth titles at 140, and Ahmed-Khademi for the vacant British belt at 115, a belt that only sometimes exists and is almost never actually defended because there are only so many domestic fighters at 115 at any given time. For instance, BoxRec currently list nine, and Charlie Edwards is one, and he’s well past domestic level. So really there are eight. We also have a return for Anthony Yarde, who faces Alex Theran, which is meant to be a tune-up to get Yarde ready for a rematch with Lyndon Arthur the world are dying to see.

FITE/YouTube, 5:00 pm ET, Paul vs Woodley weigh-in. This will stream in various spots, and we’ll have a stream available for you when it’s go time. The usual underpants and possible shoving and what have you. Jake Paul will be flanked by his dumb robot. Bad Left Hook will have live coverage.

PPV, 6:00 pm ET, Kim Clavel vs Maria Soledad Vargas, Mikael Zewski vs Dilan Loza. Hey, if you want to pay $39.99 for this card from Montreal, FITE have it. It is an absolutely absurd, borderline delusional price point and I cannot imagine they’ll manage more than a handful of buys.

PPV (Buy Here!), 8:00 pm ET, Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley. Paul-Woodley is the money-driver for the event, but there’s notable “standard” boxing here, too, including Amanda Serrano defending her WBC and WBO featherweight titles against 122 lb titleholder Yamileth Mercado, plus returns for Daniel Dubois and Tommy Fury — the latter could be of interest for Paul — and Ivan Baranchyk moving up to welterweight to face Montana Love. Paul-Woodley has its intrigue, too, and to be clear (I know this is hard to follow for some people), Jake’s fights have all been fully sanctioned, full contact, real fights. This is not an exhibition. Bad Left Hook will have live coverage.
