Lopez-Kambosos reportedly set for November 27th at Hulu Theater

Fighting

I’d make a “Nth time’s the charm” joke, but I literally can’t remember which attempt we’re on at this point.

Late last week, Mike Coppinger reported that Matchroom would “likely” stage the freshly acquired Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. fight on November 27th. Now, he claims the fight “will” take place at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater on that date and air on DAZN.

Thus (potentially) ends one of 2021’s most weirdly enthralling train wrecks, which started all the way back in January when the IBF officially ordered the newly unified Lopez (16-0, 12 KO) to face mandatory challenger Kambosos (19-0, 10 KO). What looked like a fairly rudimentary defense, one of the many that come with holding four* belts simultaneously, snowballed into an ongoing catastrophe that sent millions of dollars down the drain.

But hey, it looks like they might actually crank it out before fellow eternally delayed property Elden Ring releases, so it’s not too egregious amongst its vaporware peers.
