Warren: Tyson Fury Beats Anthony Joshua in Every Department

Boxing Scene

Frank Warren, co-promoter of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, feels confident that his boxer would beat Anthony Joshua ‘in every department’ if the two domestic rivals collide in the ring.

Last month, Fury retained his title when he overcame two knockdowns to score an eleventh round knockout of Deontay Wilder at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

And one month prior, Joshua suffered his second career defeat when he lost his WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO titles to Oleksandr Usyk, who outboxed the bigger man over the twelve round distance.

Joshua will get the opportunity for redemption. He exercised the immediate rematch clause and the second contest is positioned to take place in the first quarter of 2022.

If Joshua regains his titles, and Fury continues to win, they will fall back in line to a potential showdown next year. They were likely to face each other in the first half of next year – before Joshua was shocked in the fight against Usyk.

“Tyson always felt, and I think anybody who watched the fight against Wilder would agree, that he had AJ’s number. For me, he beats him in every department. He’s got a great chin, a bigger heart, he punches as hard as AJ – I don’t care what anyone says, look at those knockdowns against Wilder,” Warren told Talk Sport.

“And, by the way, would AJ beat Wilder? I don’t think he would have done, on that performance I saw. But does he [Fury] want the fight still? If it’s there and if it was to happen, that’s a choice he’ll make. I still think it would be a massive draw, everybody has got an opinion about what would happen in that fight, but for me there’s only one winner there.”
