Mayer and Hamadouche make weight, Adorno pulled after scale fail

Fighting

Mikaela Mayer’s second attempt to get a new world title won’t have the weight drama of the first. Both she and IBF champion Maiva Hamadouche successfully came in under the 130-pound limit for tomorrow night’s unification.

Mayer (15-0, 5 KO) hit the scales at 129.6 pounds, while Hamadouche (22-1, 18 KO) came in a pound lighter at 128.6. Mayer’s first title fight infamously saw Ewa Brodnicka lose her WBO belt by weighing in at 130.25.

In case you missed it, here’s Scott’s excellent breakdown of the matchup.

The rest of the lineup was free of drama, with one major exception: Joseph “Blessed Hands” Adorno missed a 137-pound catchweight by 2.2 pounds, and Mike Coppinger confirms that he’s been pulled from his fight with Elias Damian Araujo. Adorno missed weight ahead of a fight last June and subsequently refused to abide by a fight night weight limit. Between that, this, and his two consecutive draws, it’s hard not to feel like the 22-year-old is freefalling.
