Atlanta — Atlanta’s own ‘Brothers In Arms’, Najee Lopez and Casey Dixon, are eager to showcase their skills at home by fighting on the same card next week in Buckhead.
While Atlanta has seen something of a boxing renaissance in the past year, there are two hometown hopefuls who hope to continue a rich tradition of the city’s boxing history. Evander Holyfield, Vernon Forrest and other great champions hailed from Atlanta, and it’s time for a new chapter to be opened.
Top prospect, Najee “Chino” Lopez (1-0, 1 KO), will fight in front of his hometown crowd in Atlanta for the first time as a professional on November 19th. Lopez is one of boxing’s top hopefuls, and is looking to advance his pro career. Lopez is quickly stepping up the competition by facing the tough Anthony Holloway (3-1-2, 3 KOs) in a six-round, cruiserweight bout.
“My brother and I are going to show our hometown that we represent the new era of Atlanta boxing.”
Lopez, an elite amateur who competed for the USA and Puerto Rican national teams, Had the option of representing either in the 2020 Olympics prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the pressure of a very unique position, he and his family decided that it was best for him to turn professional. Now, he seeks his second win after a sensational first-round knockout victory in August.
Also featured on the card on November 19th is Najee’s brother Casey “K Champ” Dixon who is making his anticipated pro debut in the super middleweight division.
“Najee and I are going to bring fireworks to the ATL November 19th.” Says Dixon. “We are going to display our skills that night, and we look forward to seeing everyone out there.”
