“Sir” Marcus Browne faced fellow New Yorker and undefeated fighter Sean Monaghan as the co-main on PBC on Fox Saturday, July 15. Nicknamed the battle for the island, Browne being from Staten Island and Monaghan being from Long Island, the fight did not disappoint.

It only took 30 seconds for the fireworks to start, but they mostly were shining over the Staten Island of the wrong. Marcus Brown set up a beautiful straight left hand that caught Sean Monaghan square on the temple, sending him to the canvas.

Browne showed patience as he calmly picked apart his opponent in Round 1. Landing stiff jab after stiff jab, he connected with almost every punch he threw.

Browne showed that his youth was an advantage tonight against the older Monaghan. Browne showcased his speed and strength, landing 40% of his punches in round 2. The hooks landed with tenacity and it seemed as each minute passed, Browne’s confidence fueled his strength.

He pressed forward in the second round and at the 2:30 mark it was a hook that started the barrage of punches that rocked Monaghan, leading to TKO stoppage of the fight.

Marcus Browne moves to 20-0, inching closer to a shot at the light heavyweight title.
