Ohara Davies Could See Josh Taylor Having ‘Easy Work’ With Catterall

Ohara Davies believes Josh Taylor could stop Jack Catterall when the pair meet in an undisputed clash on Saturday night.

New Probellum signing Davies has fought both men and reckons that a “focused” Taylor can defend his super-lightweight belts with a statement KO win in Glasgow this weekend.

Davies, who has his sights set on a clash against Ismael Barroso later this year with the backing of his new promoter, does not see the fight going the 12 rounds distance if undisputed champion Taylor is on form.

“I see Taylor winning the fight,” said Davies, who signed with Probellum last week.

“Catterall is a good opponent but he hasn’t fought at the level Taylor has been fighting at.

“If Taylor turns up, it should be easy work for him.  I think Taylor stops him.  If he is in shape and if he has been focused in camp then he can stop him.”

Davies (23-2), who has spent the last two weeks sparring with the dangerous Hovhannes Bachkov in Dubai, says Catterall’s inactivity will work against him.

“Taylor has also been busy but Catterall hasn’t over the last few years,” ‘Two Tanks’ Davies added.

“Taylor has been fighting champion after champion after champion – he’s on a roll.

“Catterall hasn’t been on a roll, he’s been ranked No1 with the WBO for the past few years and he hasn’t been making much noise, but he does have a punchers’ chance.”
