An unbelievable finish, as Michael Conlan seemingly ahead on all cards and outlanding Leigh Wood 171-135 in total punches, got caught on the ropes and was send head first out of the ring. Wood showed unbelievable grit, as 80 of Conlan’s 171 landed punches were body shots.
Conlan landed 44% of his power shots. Wood landed 33% of his power shots.
Nottingham – In a mandatory showdown, for the WBA’s “regular” title at featherweight, Leigh Wood (26-2, 16 KOs) recovered from near disaster after being decked hard in the first, and was certainly down on the cards, came back in the twelfth and final round to knock unbeaten Michael Conlan (16-1, 8 KOs) out cold and out of the ring.
