Josh Kelly Return To Action on July 30 at Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle

Josh Kelly (11-1-1, 7 KOs) and Aaron Chalmers (1-0) are set to shine as Wasserman Boxing heads to the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle for a massive night of free-to-air boxing on Saturday July 30, live on Channel 5 in association with William Hill, Numan and Infinitum Entertainment.

After a slick stoppage win over Peter Kramer, watched by over 1 million viewers on Channel 5, Sunderland boxer Kelly continues his world title pursuit as he leads a line up showcasing some of the North East’s brightest boxing prospects.

Following a long period out, the elation was clear for Kelly as he impressed on his terrestrial television debut, making light work of his Hungarian opponent at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.

“It was great to be back doing what I love again,” said Kelly. “I was happy to be able to show my power and precision against a strong tough durable 154lb opponent.”

‘PBK’ rebuilds momentum towards the top, with his sights set on big fights at either weight, starting with a North East homecoming in Newcastle.

“It’s exciting times – going back up to the North East and being able to be busy again is exactly what I want,” he said. 

“Staying active and producing more of the same is the main thing now, I’m hungry for more.”

Joining Kelly in action will be former Geordie Shore star and MMA fighter Chalmers (1-0) as he looks to build on the experiences of coming through his first professional bout on June 17 in Liverpool.

“I’m happy with my debut. I thought I handled the pressure and remained calm,” said Chalmers. “I feel like I can still do better. I could have had a higher output in the fight and be a lot more aggressive.”

With the cobwebs dusted off, and the pressure of his debut handled with, it is an ideal opportunity for Chalmers to put on a performance and claim a win in front of his jubilant support.

“I’m looking forward to fighting in Newcastle, it’s my hometown. I’ve fought there twice before and we’ve managed to sell the place out, the volume was immense and the place was absolutely electric.

“The fans can expect more aggression from me in this fight,” he adds. “I was a little hasty on my debut, but a calculated and aggressive fighter is what to expect. I don’t come to go the distance, and if I can get a knockout win in Newcastle I know I’ll blow the roof of the place.”
