‘It’s far from over yet’: Anthony Joshua still aiming for third world title

Fighting

Anthony Joshua is making very clear that he has no plans to retire from boxing following last weekend’s loss to Daniel Dubois, with his eyes still set on becoming a three-time world heavyweight champion.

Dubois retained the IBF title in Saturday’s dominant win over Joshua.

“It’s far from over yet. We’ve done it once, we’ve done it twice, doing it a third time hasn’t been easy, but I believe it’s something I can achieve,” Joshua said in a video posted to social media.

“It’s about making the right steps forward, working hard, improving, and it’s gotta come from (the heart) mor ethan anything. It can’t come from any external voices or influences, it’s got to come from the heart. … When I sit back and I’m thinking, I know I’ve got a lot of (heart), man.”

Joshua (28-4, 25 KO) does still have plenty of heart, we saw that with Dubois (22-2, 21 KO) taking him to the woodshed immediately and AJ continuing to get up and fight on until he was knocked out in round five.

The bigger question now really might be less about “heart” and more about whether he can really operate at this level anymore. 34 isn’t ancient for a heavyweight, but he’s now 4-3 in his last seven fights and the four wins were not against opponents considered to be serious contenders.
