Martin, Gago to defend Euro titles on Mar. 26

Matchroom Boxing returns to Barcelona on Friday, March 26th with two European title fights and a couple of Spain’s best fighters in store.

The main event sees European super lightweight champion Sandor Martin (37-2, 13 KO) look for his ninth consecutive victory and second successful defense of the title he stopped Andrea Scarpa to claim in 2019. Challenger Kay Prospere (14-1-1, 7 KO) has confined himself to the British scene throughout his seven years as a pro, going unbeaten in his last six.

The co-feature pits featherweight champ Andoni Gago (24-3-3, 7 KO) against former super bantamweight title challenger Gavin McDonnell (22-2-2, 6 KO) in what’s probably the most interesting matchup on the card. Gago is 8-0-1 since falling to Viorel Simion and Lee Selby in the span of three fights, beating Jesus Sanchez for the Euro title along the way, while McDonnell’s been rebuilding after a 2018 walloping from Daniel Roman.

TBA’s presently pulling double duty against European super welterweight champ Sergio Garcia (33-0, 14 KO) and former welterweight champ Kerman Lejarraga (31-2, 24 KO), the latter of whom has won three straight since his second knockout loss to David Avanesyan.

Matchroom Sport Managing Director Eddie Hearn said: “This is a huge card for Spanish boxing and we can’t wait to return on March 26. As Matchroom Boxing continues its global expansion, Spain remains a big focus for us and this double European Title card features some of the country’s strongest talents with two hungry Brits looking to come and rip the Titles from them. Don’t miss all the action live on DAZN.”
