Highlights: Canelo stops Yildirim in three, full undercard

Fighting

Canelo Alvarez came, saw, and rather easily conquered in Miami on Saturday night, stopping Avni Yildirim after three rounds of one-way traffic to retain the WBC and WBA super middleweight titles.

If you missed the fight, highlights from the entire short night are up above.

Canelo (55-1-2, 37 KO) is now headed for the anticipated May 8 unification bout with WBO titleholder Billy Joe Saunders (30-0, 14 KO), a fight that should be much more highly-anticipated than this stay-busy victory over an over-matched mandatory challenger.

On the Canelo-Yildirim undercard, McWilliams Arroyo took the interim WBC flyweight title by overpowering short-notice foe Abraham Rodriguez, Zhilei Zhang started very fast but faded badly against Jerry Forrest and had to settle for a draw, Diego Pacheco and Marc Castro remained unbeaten on the main card, and Keyshawn Davis made a strong pro debut on the prelims.

Here’s the run of highlights from the rest of the show:
