Fury Promoter on Joshua News: How Many Times Has Hearn Announced This?

Boxing Scene

Frank Warren, co-promoter for WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, says his boxer has no intention of signing a contract for a unification deal with Anthony Joshua until he is “comfortable” with the terms.

On Tuesday, Eddie Hearn, promoter for Joshua, revealed that the unification clash will land on either August 7 or August 14 – in Saudi Arabia.

But Warren and Fury’s handlers are not satisfied until they receive a documented guarantee regarding the funds being offered for the site fee.

“We’ve had a contract come through that we are all considering and looking at,” Warren told Metro.co.uk.

“There are things in there that need to be done but I’m positive and I think where there’s a will there’s a way and we keep moving forward. But nothing is signed whatsoever.

“At the end of the day, Tyson is getting in the ring and he is the one who has got to be comfortable with what is going on, from our perspective. I’ll be honest, I’ve seen Hearn has put something out today, it’s just bullsh!t. I just don’t get why he does this stuff. How many times has he announced this?

“Everybody says I’m negative, I’m not negative about it at all, I want the fight, it is a no-brainer for us to make sure we get this fight on. But until it is signed there ain’t a fight. We are all working towards making that happen. But you can only announce if it is signed off.”

Fury has been out of the ring since February 2020, when he stopped Deontay Wilder in seven rounds to capture the WBC world title.

Unless a deal is finalized soon, there is real possibility that Fury will take a stay-busy fight on a date in July.

“Tyson has made it very clear he wants to be out,” Warren said. “If this isn’t done quick he wants to be out in July. So something has got to give very quickly.”
