Fury: Joshua fight is “100% on” for Aug. 14 in Saudi Arabia

After months of negotiation and delays, Tyson Fury says the deal is finally done. Fury announced on social media earlier today that his highly anticipated heavyweight unification against Anthony Joshua is happening on August 14th in Saudi Arabia.

It has been a long and uncertain road to this four belt undisputed heavyweight unification.

Seven months ago, Bob Arum, Fury’s promoter, said that their rematch obligation with Deontay Wilder had expired. The obvious mega-fight with fellow British champion Joshua has seemed tantalizingly close and infuriatingly far away every since. But recent comments from Arum indicated the fight might soon be confirmed for August, and Fury’s statement earlier today made it official in a very public way.

“I just got off the phone from Prince Khalid from Saudi Arabia.” Fury said in his video address to fans. “He told me this fight’s 100% on. August 14, 2021, summertime.”

“I can not wait. Repeat: CAN NOT WAIT to smash Anthony Joshua on the biggest stage of all times.”
