As is tradition for their events, Top Rank’s June 12th Shakur Stevenson vs. Jeremiah Nakathila show will feature a number of young up-and-comers on the ESPN+ undercard, including Puerto Rican young gun Xander Zayas, once-beaten super featherweight Tyler McCreary, and Team USA standout Troy Isley.
The 18-year-old Zayas (8-0, 6 KO) has been appropriately active during his 1.5-year career, as this will be his fifth fight in nine months. They’re still taking it slow with regards to opposition, however; Ireland’s Fryers (11-3, 4 KO) is coming off of two one-sided losses, the most recent of them to another Puerto Rican prospect (and member of this card) in John Bauza (14-0, 5 KO).
McCreary (16-1-1, 7 KO) hasn’t fought since November 2019, where he took a whooping from Carl Frampton but managed to fracture both of “The Jackal’s” hands with his face in the process. The press release describes opponent Manuel Rey Rojas (20-5, 6 KO) a “veteran spoiler” on the strength of his April losing effort against Albert Bell.
In addition to the aforementioned Isley (1-0, 0 KO) and Bauza, the lineup also features Bryan Lua (7-0, 3 KO) against fellow undefeated super featherweight Frevian Gonzalez (4-0, 1 KO) and the latest from Kasir Goldston (2-0, 1 KO) and Jahi Tucker (3-0, 2 KO).
