The World Boxing Organization has ordered immediate negotiations to begin for a mandatory fight between WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford and challenger Shawn Porter.
If a deal is not reached in 30 days, a purse bid will be called. The minimum acceptable bid will be $200,000.
The purse split, if it heads to a bid, will be divided with a 60-40 split in favor of Crawford.
Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs) last fought in November of 2020, when he knocked out former champion Kell Brook in four rounds.
He made his last mandatory defense in December 2019, with a knockout victory over challenger Egidijus Kavaliauskas in the ninth round.
The unbeaten boxer is being positioned for a potential return on a date in October.
Porter (31-3-1, 17 KOs), a two-time welterweight champion, was in the ring last August when he picked up a lopsided twelve round unanimous decision over Sebastain Formella. Prior to that, Porter lost a twelve round split decision in a very exciting fight with WBC, IBF champion Errol Spence.
Crawford is represented by Top Rank, who have an exclusive content deal with ESPN. Porter, for his part, is under the Premier Boxing Champions banner. PBC have exclusive content deals with Fox Sports and Showtime.
