Fulton-Figueroa pushed back to Sept. 18

Fighting

The collapse of Canelo Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant left a big ol’ hole in the September boxing schedule, which PBC and Showtime are now set to fill. Adam Abramowitz reports, and Keith Idec confirms, that they’ve pushed their September 11th Stephen Fulton vs. Brandon Figueroa card back to the 18th. Per Idec, it will “likely” be held at the Park MGM’s Park Theater in Las Vegas.

As Idec points out, this looks like a smart move, as it keeps the card from having to compete with Oscar De La Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort on Triller. Hopefully this will give it the attention it deserves; Fulton vs. Figueroa and Danny Roman vs. Ra’eese Aleem are terrific matchups between some of the best the super bantamweight division has to offer. Both also figure to be entertaining as hell, as none of the fighters involved are known for boring fights.

PBC’s had its fair share of awful main events this year, so it’s good to see one of their best ones getting the spotlight.
