Weigh-in results and video: Pacquiao and Ugas set for Saturday

Fighting

With today’s weigh-in over and done with, Saturday night’s PBC pay-per-view is set, with all four fights good to go, including the Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas main event.

The 42-year-old Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KO) weighed in at 146, a pound shy of the 147 lb limit, with WBA titleholder Ugas (26-4, 12 KO) right at the 147 lb limit, so the fight is official for T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Bad Left Hook will have full live coverage tomorrow night starting at 9 pm ET, including round-by-round for each fight and immediate post-fight recaps and analysis.

Undercard

The show’s other welterweight contest is also good to go. Robert Guerrero (36-6-1, 20 KO) weighed in at 146¾, with Victor Ortiz (32-6-3, 25 KO) at 148, a pound over the normal welterweight limit but that’s the standard wiggle room for a non-title fight, and this is a non-title, 10-round fight.

Guerrero, 38, has won three straight against very limited opposition, but hasn’t fought since Sept. 2019, so just under two years out of the ring, and he was really reeling against quality opponents before that. The 34-year-old Ortiz hasn’t fought since Feb. 2018, when he was lucky to get a draw against Devon Alexander, and like Guerrero, it’s been a long time since he’s beaten anyone of note — realistically, it’s been a decade, since his Fight of the Year contender win over Andre Berto in 2011, which set him up for a string of bad losses. There’s really no way to predict what we’ll get out of Guerrero-Ortiz, but it is at least well-matched on paper.

Two featherweight bouts will open the PPV broadcast, each pitting an unbeaten younger fighter against a veteran. Mark Magsayo (22-0, 15 KO) will take on Julio Ceja (32-4-1, 28 KO) in one of them, with the fighters weighing in at 125½ and 125, respectively. The opener will see Carlos Castro (26-0, 11 KO) take on Oscar Escandon (26-5, 18 KO), with the fighters tipping the scales at 125½ and 125¾. Magsayo-Ceja is set for 12 rounds, with Castro-Escandon set for 10.
