Lopez on how he sees Fury-Wilder 3
“I think Wilder, yeah, I think he has a different game plan. He’s training with Malik Scott and he’s looking good. Wilder’s looking good, he looks ready, he looks determined. So it’s a great matchup. Tyson Fury, though, he is a champion — lineal champion — and for a reason. I think he showed everybody when they fought the second time, he showed everybody what he can do, what kind of heart he has. In the first fight, you can’t come back from a Wilder right hand like that — and he did.
“With Wilder, I think that it’s not a loss for him, it was a lesson learned. And I think he really took that in, sat on it for a couple months, and now he’s back. I’m excited for it. Regardless of what it is, I’m excited to see Part 3, that trilogy, and good job for all of them, man.”
On if he would be surprised to see Wilder win
“I think we all would. However, there’s a lot of mouths that he would close. Shit, even mine. I had called him a bitch and all that stuff and it wasn’t a way of disrespecting his manhood, it was just at the amount of (excuses) that were being said. That’s all. I think he’ll close a lot of mouths (if he wins) and I think that’s what he’s looking forward to. I think he just wants to show everybody he’s here to stay…”
On the notion that Fury just has Wilder’s number
“People talk. We don’t know exactly what’s going on inside these guys’ minds. And for them, they’re making the fight happen so may the best man win.”
