In anticipation of this Saturday’s undisputed super middleweight unification bout between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant, airing live on Showtime PPV, the network has released it’s second full episode of All Access, taking a behind the scenes look at both fighters as they head into this history bout. Someone will be crowned the first undisputed super middleweight champion this weekend, and both fighters have their own motivations.
In the beginning of this segment we take a quick look into Canelo’s backstory as to how he ended up getting into the sport of boxing, which has now seemed to trickle down the bloodline as his young son has taken an interest in following his father’s footsteps between the ropes.
“I wished he liked something else,” Canelo said, “but if in the end he likes boxing, what can we do? We’ll see, he’s still little.”
As for Plant, he says he’s entering this fight with a completely different mindset from Canelo’s previous opponents, as he’s coming to fulfill his own dreams, not be a footnote in Canelo’s story.
“He’s used to people just coming in and bowning down to him and handing over their belt and being happy for their check or whatever, but I don’t give a shit about none of that,” Plant said. “That’s not why I’m here, that’s not why I fight.”
Shortly after we get down to the nitty-gritty of training camp, and how Plant is doing everything he can to make sure he’s hitting on all cylinders come fight night.
