Eddie Hearn of Matchroom will certainly be one of several promoters to approach Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in the coming months.
Canelo, a network and promotional free agent, has the ability to fight anywhere.
After working with Hearn and DAZN for his last few fights, the Mexican superstar came together with Showtime and Premier Boxing Champions for his return to pay-per-view on November 6.
Canelo knocked out Caleb Plant to become the undisputed world champion at super middleweight.
The month of May, more specifically on Cinco De Mayo weekend, is when Canelo intends to return to the ring.
Hearn will present several lucrative options to the Mexican star – hoping to bring him back to DAZN.
PBC will also present some lucrative possibilities as well.
Hearn believes the biggest money fight out there for Canelo is a trilogy clash with Gennadiy Golovkin.
Canelo and Golovkin fought to a controversial twelve round split draw in 2017. One year later, Canelo won a very close twelve round majority decision in their high drama rematch.
Next month, Golovkin will travel to Japan to face Ryota Murata in an IBF, WBA middleweight unification.
Should he win, GGG will be among the options that Hearn will present to Canelo.
“We’re going to go to him and say, ‘Here are our three or four options.’ PBC is going to say, ‘Here are our three or four options,’ and somebody else is probably going to put three or four options out there,” Hearn told IFL TV.
“He’s going to look at the deal and decide which one he wants to do. I think the GGG fight is going to be such a big fight, and there’s going to be an announcement about him very soon. He’s got a big unification fight coming up. The GGG versus Canelo fight is a massive fight and probably the biggest money fight out there for Canelo.
“But he’s got enough money. It’s not just about who pays the most money, and it’s got to be a fight that motivates him.”
