With interest in Australian boxing at its highest in years, the world has its eyes on the land down under, with fighters such as George Kambosos, Andrew and Jason Moloney catching the attention of the international boxing public.
This weekend sees a clash that will have a global effect, as Jacob Ng, a product of the ACE Boxing Group, takes on former world champion and established international boxer Billy Dib.
The man behind the ACE Boxing Group’s Promotional arm comes in the form of the highly respected Di Carlo family, and the multi decade long promoter weighed in on this weekend’s event on the Gold Coast.
Di Carlo said, “I’m very excited to be putting together this fight involving two of Australia’s most talented fighters. Billy Dib has done it all, and he believes he still has it in him to become a two weight world champion.
“Jacob Ng is undoubtably one of the best fighters Australia has right now, and he’s on his way up. This fight defines crossroads fight, as the winner will put themselves right in line to fight for the IBF and/or WBO world lightweight titles.”
Di Carlo will promote the highly anticipated clash between the pair at Australia’s Star Casino this weekend, and the promotional brain behind the likes of rising stars Demsey McKean and Liam Paro weighed in on this weekends main event.
He said, “We’re sold out so as a promoter that’s brilliant. I’m delighted that Aussie fight fans are getting behind there fighters and coming out to support a top class event at the Star Casino. I know for a fact everyone will have an amazing night.
“It’s a pick em fight it really is. You have experience vs youth and two fighters with bags of talent.
“I am the promoter of Jacob Ng and I have a great relationship with Billy Dib so it’s going to be hard watching one man lose, but naturally I’m going to back my guy Jacob Ng. Either way it’s going to be a fantastic fight.
“You have ‘The Emperor’ George Kambosos Jr who’s the unified world champion, and I believe the winner firmly puts them in those sweepstakes in regards to being a part of an all Australian super fight. So it’s all to play for and I believe that this will bring the best out of both fighters.”
