Williams Trainer: Ammo Will Put Middleweight Division On Notice Saturday

Boxing Scene

With a win on Saturday night, Austin “Ammo” Williams (10-0) will take a big step forward in his young career.

The 25-year-old southpaw takes on Chordale Booker (17-0) on the Amanda Serrano-Katie Taylor undercard at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Former champions Jessie Vargas and Liam Smith will battle in the co-feature fight. The event will be streamed by DAZN.

Williams is trained by world class trainer Kevin Cunningham at his gym in South Florida. Cunningham has worked with several top southpaws over the years including Cory Spinks, Devon Alexander and most recently Erickson Lubin.

Cunningham said that Williams had a great training camp and is expecting him to put on a dominating performance in what is the biggest fight to date in his career.

“Ammo is on a fast track to superstardom. This Saturday night he takes on the highly touted and undefeated Chordale Booker at Madison Square Garden. I think Booker, who’s 17-0, is a solid test but Ammo is in supreme condition and was looking sharp in camp. I think Ammo wins in spectacular fashion and puts the middleweight division on notice Saturday night,” Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.

Williams last fought in February when he stopped  Javier Francisco Maciel in 6 rounds. After only fighting twice last year, he is expecting a more active 2022 campaign.
