Euro News: Charr Back on May 28, Miguez is Mandatory To Avanesyan

Boxing Scene

Former (?) WBA secondary heavyweight champion of the world, Mahmood “Manuel” Charr (32-4) continues his comeback with a showdown against Michael Wallisch (22-5) on May 28 at “Die Bucht” in Hamburg, Germany.

Charr fought a little over a year against puncher Christopher Lovejoy and easily stopped him in the second. That was his first fight since 2017 when he beat Alexander Ustinov to win the WBA “regular” title.

Also on this EC Boxing promotion are heavyweights Christian Hammer (26-9), Ali Eren Demirezen (15-1) and Viktor Faust (9-0), as well as super lightweight Volkan Gokcek (9-0).

………………………………….

Spanish welterweight contender Jon Miguez (16-0) has been appointed as the official challenger to the EBU title currently held by the always dangerous David Avanesyan (29-3-1),

Miguez is ranked # 5 by the EBU but first Frenchman Jordy Weiss relinquished his position as official challenger and British boxers Conor Benn, Kell Brook and Michael McKinson had other plans.

Miguez risks it all tonight (May 20) in Bilbao when he is in against James Moorccroft (16-1).

…………………………………

Italian Loreni Boxe won purse bids with a bid for 43 280 Euro for the fight for the vacant EBU title between Sebastian Perez (13-2-1) and Alessio Lorusso (17-4-2). Date and site is to be announced.
