Boxing Scene

The hot all German matchup for the vacant EBU super welterweight title between Wasserman fighter Abass Baraou (12-1) and AGON Sports’ Jama Saidi (21-2), that was set for September 10 in Wuppertal, is now off.

Saidi has been diagnosed with a heart problem that is so serious that he might be forced to retire, reports AGON on social media..

The show still goes ahead with an undercard to be announced.

EC Boxing in Hamburg (Germany) stage a show at their gym in Hamburg on August 13 featuring heavyweights Viktor Faust (or Vyhkryst as BoxRec insists to call him, 9-0) and Ihor “Hulk” Shevadzutskyi (9-0) and super lightweight Volkan Gokcek (9-0).

Faust is in against Bosnian Adnan Redzovic (22-6) while The Hulk squares off against longtime heavyweight veteran Kevin Johnson (35-19-1): Opponent for Gokcek has yet to be announced.

It looks like EBU welter champ David Avanyesyan’s mandatory defense of the title against Spaniard contender Jon Miguez will now, after all, end up as part of a Queensberry Promotions card during the fall, writes Espabox.

Purse bids for the fight were won by promoter Kamikaze Gestion in Spain, but now Queensberry’s Frank Warren wants to feature Avanesyan vs Miguez in the UK and has taken over the promotion.
