Wilder’s Coach: Deontay is The Most Dynamic Fighter in The History of The Sport

Boxing Scene

A look of both jubilation and awe was etched profoundly across the face of Malik Scott.

For countless years, the former heavyweight contender has not only swapped fists with some of the most recognized names in the division’s history but he’s also studied them for a multitude of hours. But while Scott reveres today’s heavyweight crop and those who came long before him, he’s come to the conclusion that Deontay Wilder is simply a cut above.

“He’s the most dynamic fighter in the history of the sport,” said Scott recently to a group of reporters. “There’s not a fighter that can do everything in the world that Deontay Wilder can do.”

Scott’s bold claim was only reinforced following Wilder’s most recent trip to the ring. After back-to-back failed attempts to dethrone Tyson Fury, Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) returned to the win column emphatically, stopping fringe contender Robert Helenius in the very first round this past weekend.

With the former WBC heavyweight belt holder making quick work of his man, he’s openly welcomed all challengers. As the 36-year-old looks to recapture championship glory, he’ll attempt to lure current unified titlist, Oleksandr Usyk, into the ring. But, in any event, Andy Ruiz Jr. has perpetually pleaded with Wilder to take him up on his fight offer in the first half of 2023.

Regardless of the direction team Wilder ultimately decides to go in, Scott is convinced that it’s only a matter of time before the deleterious knockout puncher from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, rises above his competition and proves to be the best of the best of not just this era but in history.

“The best heavyweight in the world and the most dynamic fighter in the history of the sport. If he wasn’t my brother I would still say that. I’m telling you guys what I know from what I see, not what I think. This is the best right here, the best.”
