Jake Paul Credits Chad Dawson With Helping Him Prepare For Anderson Silva

Boxing Scene

In less than a week, Youtube star turned boxer – Jake Paul – will finally return to the ring.

Paul will collide with UFC legend Anderson “The Spider” Silva in an eight round main event, on October 29th from Desert Diamond Arena, just outside of Phoenix, Arizona.

The fight will headline a Showtime Pay-Per-View card.

Paul had a series of setbacks in 2022 – with fights against Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr. falling through for reasons that were outside of his control.

With an undefeated record of 5-0 with 4 knockouts, Paul has been training in Puerto Rico with co-trainer BJ Flores, co-trainer Danny Smith and Team Paul members J’Leon Love and Jacob Chavez.

Silva, unlike Paul’s past opponents, has boxing experience. Last year, he shocked former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. with a decision win. And a few months later he blew away Tito Ortiz in one round.

Some oddsmakers have tabbed Silva as the favorite.

To prepare for the fight, Paul did a lot of sparring with former world champion Chad Dawson.

“I usually wake up around 1 p.m. We train a lot at night. We spar at night. We try to mimic fight night. Waking up and doing some kind of workout at night if I’m not sparring at night. That could be mitts, shadow boxing and then after that we do abs and we’ll go for a jog or weight training. Then it’s recovery and I have a stretch therapist. Then I go into a red-light bed. Then I come home, drink protein and then I go into the ice bath, then hot tub and back to ice bath. That usually recharges me right away,” Paul said.

“Chad Dawson raises my level of competition significantly. He pushes me to the next level and he makes me have to fight at my best. That’s what’s needed. If I can be in there with Chad Dawson, then I can beat Anderson Silva. I’m super excited for October 29 to go out there and show my speed.”
