Carrington Felt Torres ‘Leaned Into’ Knockout Of The Year Contender

After a hectic night of boxing, with significant cards in Mexico, New York and Florida, one highlight reel was receiving some extra play today.

Bruce Carrington, from Brownsville in Brooklyn, scored a viral knockout win over Bernard Torres, nailing his with a right hook that sent Torres flat, face down, on the canvas inside Madison Square Garden’s Theater.

The featherweight they call “Shu Shu” won in the fourth round, bagging a Knockout of the Year contender in the process.

Carrington, now 11-0, 7 KOs, picked up from where he left in 2023, when many had called him the Prospect of the Year.

Torres (18-2, 8 KOs) collapsed face-first to the canvas, and upstate New York referee Charlie Fitch wasted no time in waving off the fight.

“It always means the world to perform in front of my home crowd, New York City, Madison Square Garden,” said an elated Carrington. “Ya’ll make me want to turn up every time. Every single time I fight here I get a knockout.

“Every time I fight here, I get a stoppage.

“I felt that he [Torres] leaned into the punch, and it landed at the right place with the right leverage. But he’s a tough competitor. He’s a really good guy. I liked how he uses his feet. He uses his angles well and knows how to get out of certain situations. But we were ready for everything.”
